Bone Density Testing
State of the art bone density testing equipment. ISCD certified nurse/technologists. Test interpretation by ISCD certified clinicians.
Vertebral Fracture Assessment
Detects spinal fractures. Done at the same time as bone density test with doctor's referral.
Mobile Bone Density Testing
Available at various sites throughout Western North Carolina.
Ultrasound Heel Screening
Available at HRMC and community health fairs. Screening for those who have never had a bone density test.
Education and Rehabilitation
Bones and Balance Osteoporosis Exercise Class
Low impact
weight-bearing exercise
designed to strengthen your bones and to avoid unsafe movements. Work at individual level. Meets Monday,through Friday at the Health and Fitness Center at 10:30 a.m. Free to members and $35 monthly to non-members.
Osteoporosis Education and Rehabilitation Classes/CORE /Fitcore
Available with a doctor's referral. Classes are conducted by a team of nurse educators, registered dieticians, physical therapists and exercise physiologists.
Walking Tall — Community Education Program
Meets at Haywood Regional Medical Center's Fitness Center on the third Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. and is free to the public. Features educational presentations on osteoporosis and related subjects.
