Our Emergency Department is always ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide care for our patients's medical needs.

The Emergency Department provides the full spectrum of emergency medical care — from treating minor illness or injury to stabilizing serious life-threatening emergencies. Personnel within our emergency department are specialists in emergency medicine, and the department is staffed with experienced emergency physicians to provide the very best emergency care available.

HRMC embarked on an ambitious expansion and renovation of its Emergency Department facilities in 2003-04. The new facility, dedicated on Nov. 14, 2004, incorporates cutting-edge technology in a state-of-the-art architectural design to maximize accessibility, efficiency, privacy, and security.

Highlights include 17 specialized treatment rooms, two triage rooms, a spacious reception and waiting area, and a patient-friendly atmosphere. With our new Phillips Achieva MRI, PACS (Picture Archive Communications System) and EDIS (Emergency Department Information System), HRMC's Emergency Department contains some of the most sophisticated and technologically advanced equipment in Western North Carolina.
