At Haywood Regional Medical Center, we are committed to serving the continuing health care needs of our patients and the community. We have various programs to assist you while you are a patient at the hospital and after you return home.

Home Care Services
Our Home Health team provides continuing care to patients once they return home. Skilled nursing care, physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy are many of the services they provide. Home health also works with patients who wish to use a Lifeline, a medical emergency device that sends a distress signal to responders when activated by the patient.

Home Care Services is a provider of American Medical Alert Corporation's (AMAC) Voice Care System. Voice Care is an advanced two-way voice personal emergency response system designed to allow you to live independently at home. Should you need a helping hand from a neighbor, a visit from your nurse, or emergency assistance in a life threatening situation, Voice Care is always there - 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Hospice

Health Resources Services

Case Management
Discharge from the hospital should not have to be an anxious time. Health Resource Services (HRS) provides assistance to patients for a smooth transition from hospital to home. The HRS team of RNs offers help to patients and families in coordinating and obtaining hospital and community services, insurance certification, in-depth disease specific healthcare instructions, and patient advocacy. Medical Social Work
A sudden illness, or injury, or a prolonged illness can create great concern for patients and their families. HRMC's Social work staff assists patients and their families in planning for post-hospital care.
Our social workers coordinate plans for transfer to extended care facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, veteran's facilities, or HRMC's Restorative Care Unit. For more information, please call the Medical Social Work staff at (828) 452-8461.

Advanced Home Care (Home Medical Equipment)
Often times, convalescence from surgery or illness can comfortably take place at home with the assistance of appropriate medical equipment and/or infusion services. Advanced Home Care, an affiliate of Haywood Regional Medical Center, offers sales and rental of home healthcare equipment.

Personal Care Services (PCS)
Personal Care Services provides the following:

• Bathing (Personal hygiene, shampoo, grooming, and dressing)
• Assist with feeding
• Vital Signs
• Essential housekeeping (make beds, dust, laundry, etc.)
• Home management
• Shopping and errands
