Hospice offers compassionate care for the terminally ill, their families, and the caregivers. Anyone with a life expectancy of less than six months can benefit from Hospice services, whether at home or in a nursing facility.

The Hospice focus on quality of life embraces the whole person and family unit. Based on the family’s request, support may be provided through their process in many areas, including emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical. Hospice involves the patient and his/her family in all healthcare decisions to promote as much independence and personal control as possible.

Hospice care is based on an interdisciplinary approach to patient and caregiver support.

The care team for each patient may consist of:

  • The Hospice Medical Director
  • The patient's personal physician
  • A primary care registered nurse
  • A certified nursing assistant
  • A social worker
  • A music therapist
  • A bereavement counselor
  • Trained volunteers
  • A chaplain
