Our Cardiac Rehabilitation
Program is designed to help participants return to a normal lifestyle
following an acute cardiac event, such as a heart attack, open-heart
surgery, or coronary angioplasty.
Cardiac Rehabilitation focuses
on:
- Improving physical fitness and the feeling of well being through
prescribed supervised exercise.
- Alleviating fears and reducing
the risks of further cardiovascular problems.
- Working to strengthen
the heart to pump more efficiently
- Working to help participants
return to work faster
- Giving opportunities for participants
to exercise with and talk to people who have
gone through similar situations.
The program consists of both inpatient and outpatient components.
If you have been hospitalized
for a heart event or heart disease, you may begin participation before
discharge or as soon as your condition allows.
The outpatient program combines education and exercise and begins
shortly after discharge from the hospital. Exercise sessions are
held in the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation room at Haywood Regional
Health & Fitness Center. For more information, please call 452-8060.
