The Fall Fight 2013 at Harris, Swain and Franklin…
Throughout the year we’re honored to care for patients and families faced with breast cancer. We’re pleased to provide an excellent team of physicians, a breast care nurse navigator, the latest in imaging and diagnostic technology and compassionate techs and staff in beautiful, convenient surroundings. Each October, as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month we take a moment to celebrate the care we’re privileged to provide close to home and the ways in which we honor and remember those who come through our doors valiantly battling breast cancer and coping with the impacts it has on the patient and family.  Click Here to Register Now

Our breast care services are provided at Harris Medical Park, 98 Doctors Drive in Sylva.

We also have the latest technology in breast imaging and diagnostics at Swain County Hospital. Thanks to our volunteers at Swain and a grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, we are able to provide the community with digital mammography as well as bone densitometry.

“We are so fortunate to in this area to have a nurse navigator to guide us in our journey through breast cancer treatment. Mary Mahon, in this role, does so much more than hold our hand during this stressful period of adjustment. Mary laughs with us, cries with us, supports us, hugs us, listens to us, loves us, and always says the right thing to cheer us onward. She gives us hope, strength and courage when we need it the most.” – Darbi Walkup, Breast Cancer Survivor

This is Mary Mahon, RN and Nurse Navigator. She’s a nurse with more than 40 years of experience. Mary is the Breast Care Nurse Navigator for MedWest-Harris/Swain/Franklin. Mary works with a team of radiologists, oncologists, pathologists and surgeons as well as with our state-of-the-art imaging department and dedicated radiology staff in navigating patients through their appointments and follow-ups. Most importantly Mary provides compassionate support for her patients around the clock. She leads five support groups for patients and families dealing with breast cancer, prostate cancer and all types of cancer.
