Aerobics classes (8:00 AM)

Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center and National Exercise Trainers Association, a non-profit fitness professional association, are co-sponsoring the following nationally-recognized workshops:

Retro Hi-Lo — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, get back to the origins of aerobics with this retro workout. Traditional hi-lo choreography will be combined with flavors and flairs of the dance world. This workout will layer intensity and complexity, building to the grand finale — a fabulous hi-lo performance from beginning to end. The cost is $100 and participants receive five NETA credits, 0.5 ACE credits.

Ultimate Balance Challenge — 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 14, get reconnected to your center of gravity by taking a step-by-step process to train balance in the body. Utilizing various equipments, unstable environments and the power of the core, you will learn how to optimize balance training in your workouts to maximize your power potential. The cost is $100 and participants receive five NETA Credits, 0.5 ACE credits.

The events take place at the Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center.

Geriatric exercise course (8:00 AM)

Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center will host a series of three courses designed to teach physical therapists how to develop effective exercise programs for aging adults.  The first course will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 20-21.

“Colon Cancer is Preventable” is the topic of a Lunch and Learn session to be held from noon until 1 p.m. March 22 at Haywood Regional Health & Fitness Center. Drs. Henry Nathan and Filiberto Colon will discuss screening recommendations and healthy habits to help avoid colon cancer.
