Volunteer Chaplaincy Program
At Haywood Regional Medical Center, the Chaplaincy Program is carried out by three Associate Chaplains and over thirty volunteer chaplains.  Volunteer chaplains are scheduled daily to provide valuable services to patients and their families.  Volunteer visits have increased from 38 per month in 1994 to over 200 per month at this time.

Volunteer Chaplains visit patients, keep patients’ families updated in the surgery waiting room and staff the hospital chapel.  Volunteer chaplains are also involved in a new program, which provides services specifically to the Emergency Room (ER) Department.  The ER volunteer chaplains are on call between 7:00  pm and 11:00 pm to serve as “Advocates” for patients during the time they are in the Emergency Room.  Needless to say,  the ER staff is most grateful for the help provided by the chaplains.
