HRMC hosting ‘pajama party’ for nurses
Haywood Regional Medical Center is having a “pajama party” for nurses, a party recruiters hope will result in long-time employment for participants.
“We will have popcorn and beverages, and I may even be able to get the ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ movie,” said Royanne Schumacher, clinical coordinator in HRMC’s nursing administration department.
"We're not actually asking people to show up in their pajamas,” Schumacher said. “The pajama party theme is to accentuate the night shift nurses work while everyone else is enjoying a good night of sleep.”
The hospital has held two open house recruiting days for registered nurses since June, with 20 RNs hired as a result. The pajama party will be an open house targeting night shift RNs, Schumacher said.
“We are hiring night shift RNs, particularly nurses with pediatric credentials for the medical/surgical floor, Telemetry/Step Down, ICU and emergency departments,” she said.
The base pay is $19.80, plus $1,000 for BSN and $1,000 for certification. Experience will be compensated and shift differentials include $2.50 for the 3 to 11 p.m. shift and $4 for the 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. shift.
The pajama party will be held from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 in the second floor classroom at HRMC. Human Resource staff will be on site for interviews
