HRMC Foundation 17th annual Golf & Gala attracts 335 golfers
Hurricane winds and rain may have plagued other areas of the South, but the sun shone brightly for the annual golf tournament hosted Sept. 2 and 3 by Haywood Regional Medical Center’s Foundation.
The tournament, held at the Waynesville and Laurel Ridge country clubs in Waynesville, attracted 181 sponsors and 335 golfers. This year’s event will support the new HRMC Hospice Center and the Foundation’s unrestricted endowment fund, as directed by each sponsor.
“On behalf of the Foundation board, we sincerely appreciate everyone who helped to make this event a success. We humbly appreciate the outpouring of support for our hospital,” said Robin Tindall-Taylor, director of HRMC’s Foundation and Corporate Communication departments. “While the net proceeds are still being counted, it is expected that more than $125,000 was raised for these projects.”
Proceedings got underway with the ladies tournament Tuesday at Waynesville Country. The men teed off Wednesday at Waynesville and Laurel Ridge country clubs.
The gala Wednesday evening offered Foundation boosters the opportunity to mingle and celebrate another successful charitable campaign. It also was an opportunity to introduce HRMC’s new CEO Mike Poore and his wife, Penny, to those who did not meet them during a reception in Maggie Valley last month.
Gala festivities included a dinner buffet, prize drawings and dancing, and a surprise performance by a drum line from Western Carolina University.
