HRMC has new human resources director

Carol Clark is Haywood Regional Medical Center’s new human resources director. Her first day in her new role was July 7.

“My immediate challenges involve evaluating the human resources processes and programs currently in place to determine whether or not they are meeting the needs of our internal customers, as well as reviewing our compensation programs to ensure that HRMC is maintaining a competitive position within the region,” Clark said.

“Ultimately, I want to make sure that the Human Resources Department provides value added services to the hospital and its leadership in achieving our mission of providing personalized, compassionate and quality healthcare to all of our patients,” she said.

Clark will oversee a staff of six, which includes the recent integration of the Staff Development Department into the Human Resources Department.

Originally from Aurora, Il, Clark relocated to Athens, Ga. in 2001. She has more than 20 years of human resource management experience in the healthcare industry. She worked as Corporate HR Manager for Neomedica, Inc. (a renal therapy company) in Chicago for 11 years.

In 2001, Clark accepted a position based in Atlanta, as human resources director for Fresenius Medical Care (also a renal therapy company). She was responsible for the provision of human resource services and programs for 300 locations and more than 4,000 employees in their Southeast business unit.

Clark earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at Illinois State University. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at George Williams College in Aurora, Il. She also holds a Senior Professional in Human Resources certification.

Clark and her husband, Dr. Barry Clark, a clinical psychologist, and two children — a son, 14, and daughter, 11 — are currently residing in Athens, Ga., and have plans to relocate to the Waynesville area in the future.

Haywood Regional Medical Center’s Human Resources Department and Staff Development Department have merged, with a staff that includes, from left, Gail Holder, staff development coordinator; Kim Kwiatkowski, human resources assistant director; Julia Queen, employment coordinator; Judy Kauffman, HR secretary; and seated, Carol Clark, human resources director. Other staff members are, not pictured, Ollie West, employee benefits coordinator, and Brenda James, staff development secretary.
