Vendor challenges others to support HRMC

A gift of more than $34,000 from a vendor to Haywood Regional Medical Center came with a challenge from the donor for others to do likewise. "We would like to extend a challenge to other suppliers of products and services  to Haywood Regional Medical Center to 'step up to the plate' and offer some form of support to assist Haywood Regional Medical Center during these challenging times," said Mark Kortright, executive vice president of Horizon CSA.

Horizon CSA provides clinical equipment technology management services to HRMC  that ensures needed repairs and planned maintenance of medical equipment are  performed minimum distraction to hospital management and staff.

"My associates and I at Horizon CSA have made a commitment to support Haywood  Regional Medical Center during your present difficulties," Kortright told  hospital board members at their May 15 meeting.

"We are proud of the fact that we have been associated with you and the staff at  HRMC for many years. We value our relationship which has been based upon  fairness, integrity, professionalism and true concern over the wellbeing of the people of the community," he said. "In this day and age of corporate clichés, we  can say that we have looked upon the administration and staff of Haywood  Regional Medical Center as true partners, in actions, not just in words."

Gwen Evans stated that "some of the other vendors are cooperating with HRMC  through discounts and payment plans but the contribution form Horizon was a  welcomed surprise which exceeded anyone's expectations."

Board Chair Glenn White expressed gratitude for Horizon's gift and challenge to  other vendors, which comes at a time of real need for financial support of  general operations at HRMC. "It would make a significant difference to our  financial situation if other vendors considered similar generous gestures," said  White.
