4/30/08 Update

• The HRMC Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners voted for HRMC’s attorney to proceed with preparing a bylaws amendment to increase the number of Hospital Board of Commissioners from eight to twelve, which will be reviewed for approval by the board. 
  
  
• This being the annual meeting (April 29) of the HRMC Hospital Authority Board of Commissioners, the board voted by acclamation to continue their current officer positions:  Glenn White, chairman; Jim Stevens, vice chairman; Mark Clasby, treasurer and Richard Steele, M.D., secretary.
  
  
• The HRMC Foundation approved action at their April 28 meeting to create a Community Relations Council.  This will be a new communications advisory committee for the purpose of obtaining feedback from the community and to act as a sounding board to help HRMC provide the information that citizens need to gain trust and confidence in HRMC.    Interested applicants can call 454-9340 or obtain an application on the HRMC website. 
  
  
• Interim CEO Al Byers has set up direct email access on HRMC’s intranet as well as HRMC’s website for anyone wishing to ask questions.  The email address is byers@haymed.org. 
  
  
• The Quality Oversight Committee reported to the board numerous sustained quality initiatives including:  continuous mock surveys and data monitoring;  using a national benchmarking database to compare HRMC’s data related to patient falls, pressure sores and use of restraints; medication administration monitoring indicated 100% compliance.
  
  
• HRMC is now in the period of reasonable assurance and is prepared for the full CMS survey, which will occur unannounced, at any time.
