New internist coming to Mountain Medical in June
Dr. Jay Weston Grosse will join the staff at Mountain Medical in June as the newest internist.
Grosse is a board certified internal medicine physician, currently residing in Jackson, Tenn. He has been practicing at Medical Clinic in Jackson. He completed his residency in Greenville, S.C., and spent a lot of his free time in the Asheville and Waynesville area. He and his wife were happy to learn of the need in one of their favorite places.
The couple has four children, ranging in age from 8 to 18.
Grosse attended Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he received his medical doctorate. Upon completion of his medical degree, he attended an internal medicine residency at Greenville Hospital System in Greenville, S.C. He accepted a position as an internist at Mosteller Medical Center in Bayou La Batre, Ala., in 1992 and remained there until 1998. He has been practicing at Medical Clinic in Jackson since 1998. He was a self-employed auto mechanic from 1977 to 1992 and was a part-time prison physician at Perry Correctional Institute in Pelzer, S.C. from 1990-92.
He participated in medical mission work in Guyana and Honduras in 2004-05. He was a lab assistant and tutor at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio from 1981-84.He taught conversational English to Korean college students in Seoul, Korea in 1983.
An internist provides long-term, comprehensive care in the office and the hospital, managing both common and complex illness of adolescents, adults and the elderly.
