Jennifer King Chosen as HRMC Employee of the Month

Haywood Regional Medical Center has named Jennifer King as employee of the month for June 2007.  King, a Certified Nursing Assistant in the hospital’s Definitive Operative Care Unit, was chosen for her capacity to handle a number of patient care challenges with grace, compassion and tireless professionalism.

An employee with HRMC since February of this year, King said that she most appreciates the diversity of working in the medical field.  “Every patient has a unique personality and special individual needs,” she said.  “I am constantly meeting new people and learning about different diseases.”

With regards to her coworkers, King commented that she appreciates how eager everyone is to work as a team towards the wellbeing of patients. “The nurses are always more than willing to teach me about different procedures and great about providing support with daily tasks,” she said.

King noted that her inspiration for choosing a nursing career comes from her grandmother, Sally Burress, a Licensed Practical Nurse with Haywood Regional Medical Center for 30 years.

Born and raised in the Cruso area of Canton, King is a 1995 graduate of Pisgah High School and received Bethel Elementary. She received an associates degree in Business Administration from Haywood Community College in December 2006 and recently began coursework at HCC to become a registered nurse.  “There is satisfaction in trying to make a difference in someone’s life,”
she said. “My family has been very encouraging and supportive, so I can work and go to school.”

King has been married to her husband, Alan, for 10 years. The couple has two sons, Dawson, 6, and Lane, 3.
