HRMC Rehabilitation Services Welcomes Heidi Pieper, ATC

Haywood Regional Medical Center Department of Rehabilitation Services welcomes Heidi Pieper, Certified Athletic Trainer to its staff.

A former athletic trainer at Southeastern Fitness and Rehabilitation in Asheville, Ms. Pieper attended Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training.

“I am thrilled to be here,” Pieper said. “The skills required for this position utilize the best of my training and education.”

Pieper noted, “I really enjoy the diversity of working with the athletes at 3 different middle schools as well as helping employees at Blue Ridge Paper as they recover from injury, so they can return to work. There’s definitely no monotony in my days.”

In the middle schools, she said that she enjoys educating people about injury prevention. “Prevention makes the biggest difference,” she said. “By the time someone gets to high school they already have certain habits engrained with regards to technique. It’s much more difficult to prevent injury after improper habits are established, so for me working with 7th and 8th graders is ideal.”

"We are very pleased to have someone of Heidi's caliber on the staff at Haywood Sports Medicine,” said Chuck Nettles, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “Her reputation within the region was well established prior to her employment here. To have someone of her experience level working in our middle school program is a bonus for those student athletes."
