Lori Green Chosen as HRMC Employee of the Month

Assistant Director of Home Care Services, Lori Green, RN, has been chosen as Haywood Regional Medical Center employee of the Month for March 2007.   Green was selected because she went beyond the call of duty, volunteering to visit an infant patient on her day off in order to begin an IV infusion.  In addition, she continued follow-up for three days and utilized the incident as a training session for other staff nurses in order to be proactive with regards to providing patient care and develop more of a rapport with the attending physicians group.

Green started working on a PRN (as needed) basis at HRMC in August 2005, when she was also employed with the Haywood County Health Department.  She joined the home care services department full-time in January 2006.

Currently, she oversees the clinical details of home care hospice and ambulatory infusion by coordinating services with care managers and the Hospice Program Director.

“The best thing about my job is that I have the opportunity to help make changes within the organization to further enhance services,” she said. “I also enjoy being an advocate to the clinical staff for continuing their education.”

Originally from Smithtown Long Island, Green moved to Port St. Lucie in South Florida when she was 9 months old.   Because her grandfather reins from the Fine’s Creek area, she visited Western North Carolina throughout her childhood and teenage years and moved here as an adult, following her parent’s relocation.

She received an associates degree in nursing from Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce, Fla. and her BSN in 2005 from Western Carolina University. Presently she’s attending WCU’s Masters in Nursing program in order to become a family nurse practitioner.

Green has a 16-year-old son, Anthony, who was recently accepted to the honor society at Tuscola High School.  In her spare time, she likes to knit and paint in oils and acrylics.
