"Shoot for a Cure" Raises Funds for Relay for Life
Besides being sore the next day, Scotty Setser director of the Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center reports that his "Shoot for a Cure" event to raise funds for Relay-For-Life was an over-all success. “I was able to make 500 three point shots while still taking a forty-five minute rest break,” he said. The event raised $560.00 for the HRMC Healthy Pacers.
“I appreciate all the support from members of the fitness center and the community,” Setser said. “While the ‘Shoot for a Cure’ event may be over, the fight to find a cure is not. We need to raise more money and for everyone to get involved.”
A basketball was signed by donors in honor of loved ones with cancer and was used to make shot 401, which was the set goal.
Medical Oncologist/Hematologist Michael Heller M.D. also joined in on the event. “This has been a community wide effort to ensure that people of Haywood County have access to quality cancer services,” Dr. Heller said.
This ball is currently being displayed in Dr. Heller's office, Carolina Cancer Specialists, 600 Hospital Drive, Suite 2 in Clyde. 454-0181.
