Linda Sorrells honored as HRMC’s 2006 Employee of the Year

Haywood Regional Medical Center honored Linda Sorrells as the 2006 Employee of the Year at the 23rd annual Employee Recognition Dinner April 5 at the Terrace Hotel at Lake Junaluska.

The occasion also celebrated approximately 95 employees who marked five through 30 years of service with the medical center and acknowledged 16 retirees.

Sorrells, CSR DT, a central supply technician and 25-year employee of HRMC was chosen because of her flexibility and leadership.

“Linda is a deserving recipient of this award, an exemplary employee and always willing to go the extra mile,” said David Rice, HRMC president and CEO. He noted that among Linda’s many contributions, she managed the department without being asked during the absence of her supervisor, altered her schedule to work evening shifts when needed, helped out with special projects, and re-organized supplies when new items and space were required. She also takes care of the department Christmas and flower fund and successfully handled a DFS (Division of Facility Services) survey for the State of North Carolina Health and Human Services department.

“We are fortunate to have her here as part of the HRMC family and immensely value her contributions,” he said.

As Employee of the Year Sorrells received $100 cash, two days off with pay and a framed award certificate. She was prevously named employee of the month for September.

Employees with 20 years include: Eileen Lipham and Tracy Long.

Employees with 25 years include: Nancy Rogers, Frances Adamson, Linda Sorrells, Mark Bleyl, Lowell Greene and Debra Russell.

Employees with 30 years include: June Kirkpatrick and Debra Stamey.

Retirees include: Linda Assad, Diane Willis, Diane Long, Sue Willis, Kathy Francis, Mary Cody (deceased), Regenia Phillips, Sharon Mullis, Lynette Wright, Warren Cunningham, Velda Davis, Lucille Swanger, Carolyn McElroy, Deborah Jenkins, Mildred Ledbetter and Aurelia Riggs.
