MedWest promotes Brandy Wheeler to patient financial services manager for MedWest-Harris, MedWest-Swain and MedWest-Franklin

Sylva, N.C. – MedWest Health System is pleased to announce the promotion of Brandy Wheeler to patient financial services manager for MedWest-Harris, MedWest-Swain and MedWest-Franklin.

In her new role, Wheeler is involved with patient accounts and billing for the three hospitals. She also is responsible for system administration duties for Patient Financial Services which includes ensuring that all systems are functional, that reference files are up to date and that all electronic information is transmitted efficiently.

Wheeler has worked on the MedWest-Harris campus for nearly 10 years. She started as a part-time outpatient biller and then moved to Home Health and Hospice billing. When MedWest implemented an updated hospital information system, Wheeler was assigned to the super user team for the system and was involved with building all reference files and setting up for claims and other billing-related areas.

Wheeler graduated in 1995 with a focus on business from Franklin High School in Franklin, Va. She has lived in the Sylva/Balsam area since 2001.

Sherry A. Keck, MHA, assistant vice president of Patient Financial Services at MedWest Health System, described Wheeler as “dedicated, resourceful and trustworthy.”

“Brandy has a wealth of knowledge and is willing and eager to assist in any way for the success of the organization,” Keck said.

MedWest Health System provides healthcare for the people of western North Carolina at MedWest-Harris, MedWest-Haywood and MedWest-Swain hospitals, the outpatient facility MedWest-Franklin, and through the 100-member MedWest Physician Network. MedWest is affiliated with Carolinas HealthCare System.
