MedWest Palliative Care & Hospice Services sponsoring free grief support groups in May

Sylva and Waynesville, N.C. – MedWest Palliative Care & Hospice Services is hosting free bereavement support groups in May to give people emotional support and help them with the grief process. 

The Harris Weekly Grief Support Group holds brown bag lunch meetings from noon to 1 p.m. every Tuesday in the Chaplain’s Conference Room at MedWest-Harris. Participants should bring their own lunches if they desire. Upcoming Tuesday lunchtime meetings will be held May 8, 15, 22 and 29. The Weekly Coffee Time group meets at 10 a.m. every Thursday at the Coffee Cup Cafe at 48 Haywood Park Drive in Clyde. The group meets for coffee, conversation and friendship with attendees sharing stories about loved ones who have passed away. In May, these Thursday morning meetings will be held May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. The Men’s Only Grief Support Group meets from 9 to 10:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month at First Presbyterian Church at 305 Main St. in Waynesville. The May meeting will be held Tuesday, May 8. Palliative Care & Hospice Services of MedWest offers compassionate care for people who are terminally ill and their families and caregivers. Based on a family’s request, support may be provided emotionally, intellectually, spiritually and physically.
