MedWest-Swain welcomes fellowship-trained pain specialist Javid Baksh, DO to MedWest Pain Center in Bryson City

Bryson City, N.C. – MedWest-Swain is pleased to announce that fellowship-trained pain specialist Javid Baksh, DO began seeing patients at the MedWest Pain Center in Bryson City on Aug. 2 as part of an expansion of the MedWest Pain Center’s operations. 

Baksh joins MedWest Pain Center Medical Director Edward A. Lewis, MD and certified physician assistant Harvey Krape at the center at 45 Plateau St. in the Swain Medical Park in Bryson City. Baksh, Lewis and Krape are with Comprehensive Pain Consultants of the Carolinas. 

The MedWest Pain Center will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Lewis and Thursdays and Fridays with Baksh. Krape also will see patients on Thursdays at the MedWest Pain Center. 

The MedWest Pain Center offers medical and psychological evaluation, diagnostic and therapeutic injections and a variety of medical and surgical therapies including long-term medical management for people with chronic pain. 

“Every patient and diagnosis is different. Every treatment plan must be just as unique,” Baksh said. “I use proven techniques and am committed to delivering high-quality care to help control your pain.” 

Baksh earned his doctor of osteopathy degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey. 

Baksh completed his rotating internship with the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Buffalo, where he also was the chief intern. His anesthesia residency was with the SUNY Buffalo Anesthesia Residency Program, and his pain medicine fellowship was with the University of Cincinnati. 

Baksh is certified by the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. He also is certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support. Baksh is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina, Ohio and New York. 

His professional affiliations include membership in the American Osteopathic Association; the Islamic Medical Association; the New Jersey Osteopathic Physicians Society; the Association of Physicians of Indian Origin; the ACOFP: Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the Northeast Region Conference 2005; the American Society of Anesthesiologists; The New York Society of Anesthesiologists; and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia.
