Changes made in MedWest-Haywood flu visitation restrictions

Clyde, NC – Visitation restrictions that were put in place due to Influenza cases have been changed.

The age limit of visitors has been lifted, and persons of any age without flu symptoms can now visit hospital patients. Persons with symptoms of respiratory illness such as fever, cough, sore throat, sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, headache, nausea, or vomiting are still asked to refrain from visiting hospital patients.

Any visitors who need to be on campus for a test or medical procedure and have any of the listed symptoms must wear a mask or use a tissue to cover their nose and mouth. They are also encouraged to clean their hands with alcohol hand sanitizer and sit at least three feet away from other visitors. Masks are available at entrance locations.

Hospital officials are planning to lift all visitation restrictions no later than March 31st.

MedWest would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and assistance in preventing the spread of flu to our patients and staff.
